A dedication to our craft has seen Primal Surfacing steadily acquire a large and diverse customer base, who have come to trust our professional advise, knowledge, service and skillset. This is evidenced by ongoing annual supply contracts held with twelve local councils in north and central Victoria, civil contracts with major highway construction projects, and service contracts with the eastern and northern sections of Vicroads. The group also undertakes residential and commercial work, and produce and supply asphalt for many independent projects within and around metropolitan Melbourne.

State Highways and Main Roads:
Primal is recognised as one of a select few pre-qualified contractors able to perform resurfacing works on our state highway network administered by VicRoads. Primal has successfully completed annual surfacing contracts for the Northern and Metropolitan Regions and is currently providing surfacing solutions to the North Eastern Alliance. VicRoads annual supply contracts typically consist of a vast range of surfacing treatments including high strength seals (HSS), strain alleviating membrane seals (SAM), and geotextile reinforced seals (GRS). Primal has applied in excess of 10 million litres of bituminous products on our State Highway network during the past four years with all contracts completed within the specified timeframe.
Urban and Rural Roads:
Primal provides surfacing solutions to local municipalities throughout central and northern Victoria and South Western New South Wales. Surfacing works for local councils are generally a mix of residential streets requiring community consultation and rural local roads. During 2009/10, Primal held 12 local council contracts many of which provide for multiple year contract extensions. Most council's rely on Primal's expertise in developing works programs and selecting appropriate treatment solutions. Primal has been the preferred contractor to a number of Councils for seven consecutive years and has never failed to complete a contract within the specified time frames.
New Pavements:
Primal's crew flexibility has enabled it to be the supplier of first choice for many Civil Contractors that require their newly constructed pavement surfaced in a timely manner. Trying to hold a well compacted pavement together under trafficked conditions with varying weather patterns is one of the greatest challenges facing Civil Contractors. Primal recognise the need to provide prompt surfacing solutions to Civil Contractors faced with this challenge. We have provided surfacing works on a number of Victoria's largest construction projects including EastLink, Bass Highway Duplication, and Anthony's Cutting Realignment.
Stress Alleviating Membrane Interlayers:
Increasing stresses placed on pavements due to heavy vehicle loading and shifting ground movement throughout the Western Plains of Melbourne results in the need for the placement of membrane interlayer seals between asphalt wearing and base courses. Primal's crews are well placed to service this market by blending a crumbed rubber solution of geotextile. Primal have three purpose-built geotextile dispensing frames and three purpose-built crumbed rubber blenders for this purpose. During 2009/10 Primal placed in excess of 800,000m2 of geotextile including 30% of the Monash Freeway resurfacing project.
